We make the short transfer to Porthmadog where we board the Welsh Highland Railway to Caernarfon, one of the most historic towns in Wales. Sit back and enjoy the magnificent scenery of the Snowdonia National Park, on what is truly one of the world’s great railway journeys. We disembark right alongside the mighty castle, and there will be time for those who wish to visit (cost not included), or time at leisure to explore Caernarfon before boarding our coach and returning to Criccieth.
A circular tour through the Coed y Brenin Forest returning along the coast road through Barmouth and Harlech, for an afternoon visit to the unique Italianate village of Portmeirion. The village was constructed between 1925 and 1972 by architect Sir Clough Williams-Ellis, to show how a naturally beautiful site could be developed without it being spoiled.
