A scenic outward journey as we make our way to Haddon Hall, set in the heart of the beautiful Peak District. The beauty and atmosphere of this fine example of a fortified medieval manor never fails to enchant. We continue to the elegant market town of Buxton, with its Pavilion Gardens set in 23 acres of Victorian landscaping, before transferring to our hotel where tea and coffee will be served on arrival.
A morning visit to Quarry Bank where you will find the compelling story of mill works, entrepreneurs and the Industrial Revolution, with hand-spinners working, the clatter of machinery and the hiss of steam engines. You can also discover the beauty of the Quarry Bank garden. In the afternoon we visit Tatton Park to uncover centuries of history at the Tudor Old Hall, witness life above and below stairs in the Mansion, and wander at leisure through the huge glorious gardens.
Before our journey home we enjoy a visit to Chatsworth House, the grandest expression of private wealth in the country. The house is recognisable thanks to its appearance in period dramas such as Sense and Sensibility.
