We drive north through the Borders, arriving at your hotel in time to settle in before dinner.
Today we visit the Royal Yacht Britannia, voted Scotland’s best tourist attraction for 11 years running, to discover, over five fully accessible decks, what life was like on board the Queen’s floating royal residence. After our visit we have time in the historic jewel of Edinburgh, to enjoy one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
A half day excursion to the Royal Burgh of Culross, a unique survival and a town that time has passed by. It is the most complete example in Scotland today of a Burgh of the 17th and 18th centuries. The Town House was built in 1626 and was the administrative centre of Culross with a tollbooth and witches’ prison. The old buildings and cobbled streets create a fascinating time warp for visitors. We return to Stirling for an afternoon at leisure.
In the morning we head for Scone Palace the world famous crowning place of the King of Scots. The palace houses an outstanding collection of antiques, paintings and rare artefacts and the grounds are renowned throughout the world, making this one of the most popular tourist attractions in both Perth and Scotland. An inclusive light lunch of soup and sandwiches, with tea & coffee will be taken in the Old Kitchen, before we continue in the afternoon to Drummond Castle Gardens. This is one of the finest formal gardens in Europe, however since they are built on a steep hillside, with steps providing access, those will limited mobility may find it challenging (please ask for details.)
We depart after breakfast to commence our homeward journey, making suitable stops en route.
