Hotels are varied in style and standard, and travellers should give consideration to the fact that they will often be in beautiful yet isolated locations where hotel accommodation is very limited. Porterage is included throughout. With the exception of the Dark Island Hotel, all have lifts.
THURSDAY We head north with an overnight stay at the Arrochar Hotel on the shore of Loch Long.
FRIDAY Enjoy spectacular scenery as we pass Loch Lomond, Loch Awe and Fort William, before crossing to the Isle of Skye via Mallaig. Your early evening crossing from Uig to North Uist awaits,on which dinner has been included. Arrive at your hotel on Benbecula, our base for two nights.
SATURDAY Today's island hopping begins by taking the causeway across to South Uist, where the west coast is a continuous sandy beach and the east is dominated by mountainous peaks. On then via a further causeway to Eriskay. From here enjoy the short ferry crossing to the Isle of Barra which is considered by many to be the mostbeautiful little island in Britain. If time allows we will venture across the causeway to stunning Vatersay, the most southerly inhabited island in the Outer Hebrides.
SUNDAY A leisurely morning, before departing for our onward journey to North Uist, via the Benbecula causeway. North Uist is a relatively flat island covered with peat bogs, low hills and lochans and is a birdwatchers' paradise. We board the afternoon ferry for the one hour crossing to Harris, and travel up the west coast taking in some of the most breath-taking scenery in the Western Isles. The final leg of today's journey is to Lewis and the Cabarfeidh Hotel in Stornoway. A packed lunch will be included today.
MONDAY We include a full day guided tour of Lewis today, including Callanish, where we find the awesome collection of stone circles and rows of standing stones called the “Hebrides' Stonehenge”.
TUESDAY Enjoy the morning free in Stornoway, before an afternoon ferry crossing to Ullapool on the mainland, which takes just under three hours. We continue through wonderful mountain scenery to the Duke of Gordon Hotel Kingussie, for dinner and overnight accommodation.
WEDNESDAY We commence our homeward journey, with suitable comfort stops en route.
