SUNDAY We travel south, with suitable stops en route, and arrive in Folkestone during the afternoon with time to settle in before dinner.
MONDAY Board the coach for a visit to Dover Castle. Here you can immerse yourself in the history of the great castle, before enjoying a unique visitor experience in the Secret Wartime Tunnels where the dramatic rescue operation of the 1940 “Miracle of Dunkirk” is vividly brought to life. You can explore the authentic Underground Hospital and visit the new Fire Command Port attraction. Note: the upper floor of the Great Tower has steep flights of narrow stairs and there are some very steep slopes and cobbled walkways within the grounds. After our time at the castle we return to Folkestone making a stop en route at the Battle of Britain Memorial in Capel-le-Ferne, a peaceful spot where the heroes of the Battle of Britain are commemorated.
TUESDAY Today we visit the historic city of Canterbury, pausing en route in the lovely picture postcard village of Chilham, with its half-timbered houses. We continue to Canterbury for free time in this historic city, where you can discover the magnificent cathedral, enjoy the quaint streets, and perhaps enjoy a punt on the river.
WEDNESDAY Enjoy a leisurely excursion to Sissinghurst Castle Garden. Set within the ruin of a great Elizabethan house and surrounded by the rich Kentish landscape, this famous garden, with its fairytale tower, offers layers of colour, intimacy and rich herbaceous borders. It is the epitome of an English garden.
THURSDAY We return home with suitable stops along the way
