Holiday Itinerary

Itinerary

MONDAY

On our outward journey we take a break in the historic town of Ripon

TUESDAY

Today we travel along the treasured landmark of Hadrian’s Wall, with the services of Tom Keating, our well known and popular Blue Badge guide, calling at Chester’s Roman Fort and Museum along the way

WEDNESDAY

We visit Morpeth, the bustling county town of Northumbria, and continue to Cragside. Built on a rocky hillside above a garden forest, this fascinating Arts and Crafts masterpiece includes every home comfort imaginable, and the landscaping and gardening is equally ambitious and spectacular. Please note that those with walking difficulties will find the terrain and distances challenging (stout footwear is essential)

THURSDAY

A full day exploring the delights of Northumberland. We visit Bamburgh Castle, reputed to be one of the finest castles in the country and, subject to tidal conditions, we will travel across the causeway to Holy Island, birthplace of British Christianity, with a chance to visit the 11th century priory ruins and Lindisfarne Castle (admission not included)

FRIDAY

We depart after breakfast and journey South to Beamish, the Living Museum of the North, where you can step back in time in this world famous museum set in 300 acres of beautiful County Durham. Talk to the characters who lived and worked in the period, and take a ride on the vintage trams and buses making travelling around the museum easy and fun. We depart mid-afternoon to continue our homeward journey
