Holiday Itinerary

Itinerary

TUESDAY

An early start as we make our way to Dover for the short ferry crossing to Calais, and continue to the Mercure Reims Parc Des Expositions for dinner, bed and breakfast accommodation.

WEDNESDAY

We make our way southward to the beautiful medieval town of Uzès, and the Best Western Uzès Pont du Gard.

THURSDAY

This morning we head to the beautiful city of Avignon, set on the banks of the Rhône with dramatic views of its 800 year old medieval ramparts surrounding the magnificent Palais des Papes.  The Pont d’Avignon, of nursery rhyme fame, sits majestically half way across the Rhône, and the city teems with cobbled streets, quaint boutiques and leafy squares.  We include an afternoon cruise on the Rhône to see this majestic city from the river.

FRIDAY

Today we visit the ancient Roman aqueduct of Pont du Gard, an amazing feat of engineering built over 2,000 years ago to take water to the city of Nîmes.  We include a visit to the museum and visitor centre, which provides an interactive insight into how the aqueduct was made.  From here we continue to the city of Nîmes for our afternoon visit to the beautiful Jardins de la Fontaine, and time at leisure.

SATURDAY

Relax by the swimming pool or take a stroll into the medieval town of Uzès, where the weekly market takes place today on the picturesque Place aux Herbes.  The town is well worth a visit, with many architectural gems included the Duke’s Castle, historic monuments, large arcaded centre square and interesting alleyways.

SUNDAY

After breakfast we make our way to Reims for dinner, bed and breakfast at the Mercure Reims Parc Des Expositions.

MONDAY

We continue to Calais, for our channel crossing and arrive home during the evening.
