This is the most famous Commonwealth war memorial in Flanders and a poignant reminder of the losses suffered during the Great War.
SATURDAY We spend the morning in Bruges, known as the ‘Venice of the North’ and one of Europe’s loveliest and best preserved medieval cities. In the afternoon we make our way to Ghent. Here in this cosy yet vibrant city, with its fantastic canal side architecture, you can enjoy the best of the city’s sights whilst sampling the delights of this festive winter wonderland.
SUNDAY A morning at leisure in Ypres providing the opportunity, for those who wish, to visit the award winning In Flanders Fields Museum, located in the famous Cloth Hall. (Admission not included) Then join the coach for our excursion to Lille, where you can browse the stalls full of gift ideas, nativity figurines, Christmas decorations and festive food. You’ll find regional specialities and arts and crafts, not forgetting the gingerbread and other delicacies including Gluhwein.
MONDAY A leisurely departure for Calais where we board a lunch time ferry, and continue homeward.
