THURSDAY A full day at leisure in Isla with time to explore the village and enjoy the hotel's excellent facilities.
FRIDAY We travel to Santillana del Mar, a village on the World Heritage List, best described as a living museum. In the afternoon we visit Comillas, the “City of Archbishops”, surrounded by stunning natural surroundings, and with its attractive harbour. The town is one of the most prestigious destinations in northern Spain, traditionally a holiday destination of the nobility, and boasts an amazing array of modernist buildings.
SATURDAY A full day to the Picos de Europa mountain range, without doubt one of the most beautiful places to visit in Spain. We take a break in San Vicente, before continuing through dramatic lofty peaks and stunning scenery to Potes, a lovely market town set high in the mountains.
SUNDAY Today we visit Castro Urdiales, a popular seaside resort combining the charm of a small seafaring and fishing village with a rich tradition. The town is dominated by the Iglesia de Santa Maria, built in pink stone and one of Cantabria's finest gothic monuments. In the old town there are many glass fronted houses, which are traditional to this area, and the town square is surrounded by attractive arcaded shops, bar and restaurants.
MONDAY We return to Santander, with time to explore and soak up the atmosphere of this elegant city. Perhaps enjoy a stroll along the tree-lined promenade, relax in a café or bar, or maybe browse the shops for a souvenir of your holiday. From here we board the afternoon sailing back to the UK.
TUESDAY We arrive back on the south coast mid-afternoon, and continue homeward.
