Outward journey through the Cotswolds to Bourton-on-the-Water, known as the Venice of the Cotswolds, and regularly voted one of the prettiest villages in England. Bourton is famous for its honey coloured architecture and idyllic village scenes, and you’ll find there’s plenty to do with a wealth of attractions, shops, pubs and cafes. We have time at leisure before continuing to our hotel in comfortable time before dinner.
After breakfast we board the coach for the transfer to Highclere Castle in Berkshire, the venue for filming Downton Abbey. Highclere is one of England’s most beautiful Victorian Castles set amidst 1,000 acres of spectacular parkland, and home to the Carnarvon family who have lived here since 1679. Our timed entry will be at 1030 hours, which allows us plenty of time to view the castle, the Egyptian Exhibition and the gardens. From Highclere we commence our return journey, with a suitable stop en route.
