We commence our outward journey, taking a break in the busymarket town of Northallerton with its fine wide High Street, and medley of interesting shops, cafes and inns. We continue to Durham and arrive in plenty of time to relax and settle into your rooms before dinner.
A day at leisure in Durham. This compact city is perfect for exploring. Discover the cobbled streets of the old city, with boutiques and quirky craft shops jostling side by side, beautiful riverside walks, and of course the Cathedral reputed to be one of the great buildings of Europe.
We depart after breakfast for our visit to the world famous open air museum telling the story of life in North England in Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian times. Beamish stands in 300 acres of beautiful countryside and, as well as The Town, you will find a
railway station, colliery, pit village, Pockerley Old Hall, Pockerley Waggonway, and Home Farm - a wonderful day out. We depart midafternoon for the journey home.
