We travel south with suitable stops en route, and board a late afternoon ferry for the short crossing to the Isle of Wight.
A day at leisure to explore Sandown. Sheltered in a beautiful bay, and famed for its long stretch of golden beach and traditional promenade and pier, you’ll find plenty to occupy your leisure time.
In the morning we make our way to view the iconic Needles Rocks, before our visit to Yarmouth, with its picturesque harbour. We continue in the afternoon to Calbourne Water Mill, set in 35 acres of stunning rural landscape. You’ll have time to visit the mill and museum, take a stroll around the ponds and through the ancient oak woodlands, before returning to Sandown.
We include a return trip on the charming Isle of Wight Steam Railway from Havenstreet. Anostalgic journey with locomotives and carriages beautifully restored to pristine condition by a team of dedicated volunteers. There will be time to browse the museum and shop, before continuing to Ryde,with time to explore. We call at the Rosemary Vineyard, before returning to Sandown via Brading.
From Cowes, home of the most famous yacht club in the world, we embark on a pleasure cruise out into the Solent, sailing around Portsmouth harbour, where we can view modern and historic warships at anchor. After disembarkation we return to Sandown via the quintessential village of Godshill with its charming thatched cottages and popular model village. There will be time for those who wish to visit the model village, however admission is not included.
We board a morning ferry for our return sailing, and continue homeward with suitable stops en route.
