Outward journey with comfort stops en route.
A morning visit to the ancient walled town of Caernarfon, on the banks of the Menai Strait, and in the afternoon a visit to Plas Newydd Castle & Manor House, an impressive 18th century house on the Isle of Anglesey. As well as the house there is an Australasian arboretum and access to a marine walk.
We take the scenic route via Betws-y-Coed to Blaenau Ffestiniog, once the slate capital of Wales. From here we board the Ffestiniog Railway for the journey to Porthmadog, where we are reunited with our coach and make the short transfer to the famous Italianate village of Portmeirion, one of Wales’ premier visitor attraction. Time to explore the village, its surrounding exotic woodlands and beach walks, before returning to Llanberis.
A day at leisure to explore Llanberis, and when you may wish to take a ride on the Snowdonia Mountain Railway (cost not included) - the station is just a two minute walk from the hotel, or visit the National Slate Museum, where admission is free.
On our return journey we take a break in Chester.
