In the morning we visit a typical local farmhouse, for our introduction to the tasty world of Italian cuisine. To round off this Italian masterclass you will learn how to impress your friends back home with a Tiramisu dessert. We include a typical Tuscan lunch consisting of crostini, pasta, wine and mineral water, before an afternoon guided tour of the charming town of Lucca, with its Cathedral, Church of San Michele and well preserved city walls.
We visit Siena, where our tour guide will take you on a two hour walking tour of this important city of art. The highlight is the Piazza del Campo, the seashell-shaped square on which the Palio horserace takes place each year. In the afternoon we continue in the Chianti Valley where this landscape, interspersed with olive groves, cypresses, vineyards and palaces, will not fail to impress. We include a wine tasting with snacks in a winery of the Chianti Valley.
With the benefit of a full day guide, our adventure today takes us on a return train journey to Florence, the capital of Tuscany, and one of the great cultural cities of Europe. (The train station is about a 10 minute walk from our hotel) The art and cultural metropolis of Florence is a must for all travellers to Tuscany, and you will visit the interesting sights of the city on foot with a local guide. There will be time for individual pursuits, before the return journey by rail.
Our guide joins us as we visit the medieval village of Vinci, the birthplace of Leonardo da Vinci. Here you can visit the museum of Leonardo (admission cost not included). Around midday we arrive at the beautiful village of Lari, which enjoys an exquisite location in the hills of Pisa, and here we visit Europe’s smallest and most authentic family run pasta factory, which exports pasta worldwide.
Departing Italy we return to the Dijon area of France for dinner bed and breakfast accommodation.
To Calais and our channel crossing to England, arriving home late evening.
