We depart in the morning and, with suitable stops en route, arrive in Bristol late afternoon
We journey across the majestic Severn Bridge and along the beautiful Wye Valley to historic Monmouth for a short break. From here we head for Symonds Yat, where we enjoy a cruise on the River Wye. We have time at leisure in Ross-on-Wye, and return through the Forest of Dean to Lydney and Chepstow, our final stop of the day.
This morning we transfer to Longleat House and Safari Park. We have time to wander around the house and then discover some of the stars of BBC’s “Animal Park”, in the world famous safari park.
Leaving Bristol we head into Somerset and the coastal resort of Minehead. We spend a relaxing morning here and have time for lunch (at own expense) before we board the West Somerset Railway and enjoy a 20 mile ride to Bishops Lydeard. This preserved railway is a delight and follows the Somerset coast with views over the Bristol Channel.
We depart for home, making a convenient lunch stop en route.
