Situated on the village green, with magnificent views of Cardigan Bay, the Lion has evolved from an old inn, into the comfortable and friendly hotel it is today. Some rooms will be in the ‘Castle View Cottage’ annexe . Facilities include: Relaxed and informal lounge bar with pool table • Residents cocktail bar
MONDAY We travel to Criccieth with suitable stops en route.
TUESDAY We make the short transfer to Porthmadog where we board the Welsh Highland Railway to Caernarfon, one of the most historic towns in Wales. Sit back and enjoy the magnificent scenery of the Snowdonia National Park, on what is truly one of the world's great railway journeys. We disembark right alongside the castle, and there will be time for those who wish to visit (cost not included), or time at leisure to explore Caernarfon, before boarding our coach and returning to Criccieth.
WEDNESDAY A circular tour through the Coed y Brenin Forest returning along the coast road through Barmouth and Harlech, for an afternoon visit to the unique Italianate village of Portmeirion. The village was constructed between 1925 and 1975 by architect Sir Clough Williams-Ellis, to show how a naturally beautiful site could be developed without it being spoiled.
THURSDAY We travel over the Menai Strait to Anglesey and visit Beaumaris, arguably the prettiest town on the island with its stunning waterfront and mountain views, and impressively long pier. We have time to explore and obtain lunch here, before the short transfer to Plas Newydd House and Garden. Set in breathtaking scenery this elegant house contains a military museum, works of art and regular exhibitions. The surrounding gardens are a riot of colour and offer wonderful views of the Menai Strait an snowdonia.
FRIDAY We return home making suitable stops en route.
