TUESDAY We journey to Scotland, making suitable stops en route, and arrive during the late afternoon.
WEDNESDAY We start the day with a visit to the famous vantage point of Queen’s View, which looks out over one of the most iconic panoramas in Scotland. On then to the little Highland town of Braemar. We continue along Royal Deeside, maybe even catching a glimpse of Balmoral through the trees, before continuing to Crathie Church and Ballater.
THURSDAY A day at leisure to explore our base, the bustling and picturesque town of Pitlochry. The town is in a lovely setting on the River Tummel and, as well as the interesting shops on the High Street, you might like to visit Pitlochry Power Station and Dam, which has the unusual attraction of a salmon ladder. After an early evening meal we transfer to the Enchanted Forest, where you follow the path on foot around the forest and are treated to a series of spectacular sound and light shows along the way.
FRIDAY We visit Glamis Castle, the childhood home of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother and setting for Shakespeare’s Macbeth. You will not fail to be touched by the magic of this castle steeped in history, legends and myths. We continue to Dundee, a compact waterfront city on the Tay estuary, and reputedly Scotland’s sunniest city! Time to explore, before returning to Pitlochry.
SATURDAY We commence our homeward journey, with suitable stops en route.
