A very fine hotel located in a slightly elevated position near woodland within walking distance of the heart of Zakopane. Built in the 1920's style, the Belvedere offers high levels of comfort. En suite bedrooms have TV, mini bar and safe, and bathrooms have heated floor, hairdryer and bathrobes. Other facilities include spa with sauna, steam bath and indoor pool. FRIDAY Travel to Dover for the early afternoon ferry to Calais. We continue into Belgium for dinner, bed and breakfast near Brussels.
SATURDAY A full day's travel eastward across Germany to the Magdeburg area for dinner, bed & breakfast.
SUNDAY We depart after breakfast and make our way to Wroclaw, one of Poland's most beautiful cities, and our base for two nights.
MONDAY Our local guide will take us on a walking tour of this historic city with its impressive gothic cathedral, magnificent town hall and market square. The remainder of the day is free for individual pursuits.
TUESDAY We continue our journey to the mountain resort of Zakopane, our base for four nights. En route we visit the memorial and museum at Auschwitz for a guided tour of this infamous concentration camp of World War II. This sombre experience evokes a dark place in human history, and is a place of remembrance and tragedy. Those not wishing to visit Auschwitz will continue to the small town of Pszczyna and visit Pszczyna Castle, one of the most beautiful and best preserved aristocratic residences in Poland, filled with original furniture and everyday objects. Please advise us of your preferred visit, at time of booking.
WEDNESDAY A day at lesure in Zakopane. Explore the shops and market or perhaps take a cable car or railway trip into the mountains.
THURSDAY A beautiful tour today, as we are accompanied by a local guide, taking us through miles of unspoilt countryside to the Dunajec Gorge, calling at Chocholów, a typical wooden village, and the 15th century church at Debno.
FRIDAY An excursion to Kraków, the former capital, and a renowned city of culture rich in art treasures and magnificent architecture. Once again we have local a guide who will take us on a sightseeing tour.
SATURDAY Leaving Zakopane after breakfast we commence our homeward journey with a full day's travel to Germany. Dinner, bed and breakfast accommodation in the Dresden area.
SUNDAY Leaving the old east behind, our journey reaches its penultimate leg, with an overnight stop in Belgium for dinner, bed and breakfast accommodation.
MONDAY We depart after breakfast for the journey back to Calais, and an afternoon crossing to Dover, arriving home late evening.
