MONDAY On our outward journey we visit Upton House and Gardens, a country house presented in 1930's style to showcase a world class art collection. Enjoy the spectacular feature garden including the Mirror Pool and kitchen garden, before continuing to our hotel in time to settle in before dinner.
TUESDAY We make our way to Mottisfont, an 18th century house, with a medieval priory at its heart, surrounded by ancient trees, babbling brooks and rolling lawns. Inside you'll find an extraordinary drawing room painted by Rex Whistler, and a permanent 20th century art collection. The garden is a feast for the senses,with the world famous collection of old fashioned roses flowering during June. We spend the afternoon in Winchester, England's ancient capital and former seat of King Alfred the Great. Explore the many side streets and winding lanes, parks and waterways to discover some of Winchester's hidden treasures.
WEDNESDAY This morning we visit The Vyne, a 16th century estate and former Tudor palace. Amongst the highlights are a superb Tudor chapel, and an ornately decorated Palladian staircase. Outside a wonderful space is created in acres of wildlife rich gardens. This afternoon we visit West Green House Garden, created by acclaimed garden designer and writer Marylyn Abbott. Nestling in a woodland corner of Hampshire this garden of contrasts and inspiration unfolds magnificent areas of stunning planting and dazzling colour.
THURSDAY We break our homeward journey with a visit to Oxford, where you will have time at leisure before continuing homeward.
