The centrepiece of the Pickering events calendar is the ever-popular Wartime Weekend, which is held every October, and includes a full programme of WWII and 1940’s themed entertainment and events. The event is run by the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, however it is now so popular that attractions have sprung up all over the town

FRIDAY Outward journey to Ripley Castle, for a fascinating and entertaining tour of the Castle. There will be time to enjoy the walled gardens and hot houses, with an impressive collection of tropical plants, before making the transfer to Huby, near York for our overnight stay.

SATURDAY To Pickering to enjoy a full day at the event. Attractions include singing, dancing, workshops, parades and fashion shows, in addition to living history showcases, period vehicle exhibitions and re-enactments. Whether you want to dress up in period costume and get involved, or just do some sightseeing, it's an excellent festival and fantastic fun for the whole family. We depart late afternoon to commence our homeward journey.
