Dunoon & the Isle of Bute

Dunoon is the main resort on the beautiful Cowal Peninsula and the maritime gateway to the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park. This popular resort nestles by the Firth of Clyde, against a backdrop of steep wooded slopes, and offers an attractive four mile promenade, a fine Victorian pier, and is surrounded by some of Scotland’s prettiest scenery.

Four nights dinner bed & breakfast

Situated on the waterfront of the traffic free West Bay Promenade with stunning views, this family owned and run hotel offers a warm welcome, appetising meals, a friendly service and comfortable, well-appointed accommodation. Includes entertainment most evenings. Lift serves most floors, however there are a few steps to access the dining room. Sea view rooms & superior rooms carry a supplement and are available on request. Porterage is included.


Holiday Itinerary


MONDAY We travel north, with suitable stops en route, before joining the ferry for the twenty minute crossing to Dunoon.

TUESDAY A morning at leisure and an afternoon visit to the enchanting Benmore Botanic Garden in its magnificent mountainside setting and surrounded by dramatic scenery.

WEDNESDAY We travel through stunning scenery beside Loch Eck, to the shores of Loch Fyne and the delightful historic town of Inveraray, where there will be time, for those who wish, to visit the famous jail. (Admission not included).

THURSDAY Another scenic drive today as we travel to the Isle of Bute, via the short ferry crossing from Colintraive to Rhubodach, which takes just a few minutes. We visit Mount Stuart House, often described as an architectural masterpiece and one of the world’s great houses, before returning to Dunoon.

FRIDAY We commence our homeward journey, with suitable stops en route.
