MONDAY An early start as we make our way to Dover for the short channel crossing to Calais and continue to the 4-star Victor's Residenz-Hotel Rodenhof/Saarbrucken for bed and breakfast accommodation.
TUESDAY We arrive in Fai della Paganella and enjoy our first evening meal.
WEDNESDAY A day at leisure. Enjoy a gentle guided walk around this friendly village, and picnic in the surrounding countryside with Fausto, the hotel owner, or if you prefer just relax and enjoy the mountain scenery.
THURSDAY We make our way to the beautiful spa city of Merano, which sits nestled between the Dolomites. Enjoy a morning strolling around the town's vibrant centre, and perhaps take the chair lift to the panoramic viewpoint to admire the scenery. This afternoon we drive along the Adige Valley's famous wine route, with a break at Lake Caldaro for a wine tasting.
FRIDAY We drive north toward Moena, based in the heart of the Dolomites, and ascend towards the vibrant town of Canazei. From here it's just a short drive to get to the Sella Pass – an incredible viewing platform. Here you can enjoy lunch (cost not included), and appreciate the amazing 360 degree views across the Dolomites with its spectacular jagged peaks. Continue down into the alluring Val Gardena, an historic valley known for its wood making traditions and unique and ancient language, Ladin, which is only spoken here. Enjoy a break in the picturesque village of Ortisei, relax over a delicious plate of strudel, or perhaps shop for one of the other local specialities – hand-made cuckoo clocks.
SATURDAY Our journey this morning takes us past the lesser known, but incredibly scenic Lake Molveno, and from here we enjoy the relaxing route which takes us through to Lake Garda. Riva offers a lakeside historic centre and is the most northerly point in Europe where olive trees grow. We have free time in Riva to enjoy a delicious lunch in the main square (cost not included).
SUNDAY After breakfast we start our journey back into Germany for overnight dinner, bed and breakfast accommodation at the Mercure Hotel Saarbrucken Sud.
MONDAY We make our way to Calais where we board the ferry to Dover, and continue homeward.
Please note: There will be a city tax to be paid directly to the hotel in Fai della Paganella. Currently this tax is €1 per person, per night, however it is subject to change.
