Four nights dinner, bed & breakfast
A perfect base for exploring the town’s independent shops, or simply relaxing on the sea-facing private patio, this is a well presented seaside hotel with classic charm coupled with modern facilities. Facilities include restaurant; bar and free WiFi. Hotel has a lift, and porterage is included.
FRIDAY A leisurely outward departure arriving in comfortable time to settle in before dinner.
SATURDAY We start the day at Bicton Park Botanical Gardens. The superbly landscaped park includes historic glass houses, a countryside museum and a woodland train ride. (Small additional cost applies for the train). Later we continue to Exmouth, with its colourful indoor market and beautiful seafront with flat promenade. Our final stop is a visit to Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary, an award-winning attraction, and home to hundreds of friendly rescue donkeys.
SUNDAY A day at leisure. Sidmouth is set in spectacular countryside and dominated by the vivid red sandstone cliffs. The Millennium Walkway stretches the length of the beach and is perfect for a stroll, or you may wish to explore the town centre, which is rich in history, and where you will discover a great range of shops, cafes and restaurants.
MONDAY An excursion to Powderham Castle, which lies in a unique setting on the banks of the River Exe. On this enchanting visit you will discover nearly 600 years of history within the walls of one of England’s oldest family homes. We then continue to Exeter, a compact city, and one of the most attractive and historically interesting in England. Perhaps visit the beautiful quayside, the Royal Albert Memorial Museum or Art Gallery, or simply enjoy the stylish shops set in architectural splendour.
TUESDAY We depart after breakfast to commence our homeward journey, making suitable stops en route.
