From here, we board the North York Moors Railway – sit back, relax and enjoy a nostalgic ride through the enchanting countryside before alighting at Whitby and continuing to the hotel in time for dinner.
THURSDAY Our first stop is a visit to Goathland, well known from the television series ‘Heartbeat’. The heritage train station in this bracing moorland village also served as ‘Hogsmeade’ station from the early Harry Potter films. We then make the short transfer into Whitby, for a visit to Hadleys, where we enjoy a fish and chip lunch. Then we have time at leisure in Whitby before we return to the hotel.
FRIDAY Today we depart the hotel and visit Castle Howard, where we have time to explore this magnificent historic house with its ornate interior, beautifully landscaped gardens, and home to the Carlisle branch of the Howard family for more than 300 years. From here we continue our journey home.
