This traditional, historic hotel is located just a 15 minute walk from Caernarfon’s walled old town. Facilities include Castell restaurant; Summit Bar; leisure facilities including pool, sauna and steam room. Lift to all floors, but some rooms have a few steps to access from the lift. Porterage is included.
MONDAY We journey to Wales, making suitable stops en route. Mulled wine will be served upon arrival at the hotel.
TUESDAY Today we take a circular tour through Snowdonia National Park, with a stop in Betws-y-Coed, North Wales’ most popular inland resort, set in a beautiful valley. Following time at leisure here, we head back towards the coast for an afternoon visit to the unique and stunning Italianate village of Portmeirion. It was constructed between 1925 and 1976 by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis as a tribute to the atmosphere of the Mediterranean, and to show how a naturally beautiful site could be developed without being spoiled.
WEDNESDAY We travel over the Menai Strait to Anglesey and visit Beaumaris, arguably the prettiest town on the island, with its stunning waterfront and mountain views, and impressively long pier. We have time to explore and obtain lunch (at own expense) before we make the short transfer to Anglesey Sea Salt company, for a guided tour of this unique state of the art facility, complete with gift shop and café.
THURSDAY Time at leisure in Caernarfon today. Perhaps explore the walled town and castle, a UNESCO World Heritage site (admission charges apply), between Snowdonia’s mountains and the sea, or enjoy the hotel’s leisure facilities. In the afternoon, tea, coffee and mince pies will be served at the hotel.
FRIDAY We commence our journey home, taking a break in Chester en route.
