FRIDAY With an early departure we travel to Kensington Palace, arriving early afternoon. Birthplace and childhood home of Queen Victoria, and in recent years home to many other royals including Princess Margaret, Diana, Princess of Wales, and currently the official London residence to TRH The Prince and Princess of Wales and their children. Immerse yourself in the palace's history through the special exhibitions, and explore the world-renowned gardens.
SATURDAY First to Buckingham Palace, to visit the State Rooms, which include the Throne Room, the Picture Gallery, and the State Dining Room, used to entertain guests on state, ceremonial and official occasions. The exquisite collection of state rooms mainly reflect the taste of George IV, and are adorned with many of the greatest treasures from the Royal Collection as well as some of the finest English and French furniture in the world. There will be some free time in London before we return to the hotel.
SUNDAY We depart the hotel and head to Windsor for our visit to Windsor Castle, the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world, and previous home of 39 monarchs. Experience the splendour and delights within the Castle’s buildings. Admission also includes entry to St George’s Chapel, final resting place of Queen Elizabeth II. (N.B: the castle is at the top of a steep hill, and the visitor route covers long distances, we therefore recommend comfortable footwear.) Time permitting, you are free to explore Windsor at leisure following the Castle visit. We depart mid afternoon for our homeward journey.
