TUESDAY We make our way first to Moreton-in-Marsh, with its broad high street lined with elegant 17th and 18th century buildings. We continue to Batsford Arboretum, offering visitors year round colour and interest. Wander along 60 acres of wild gardens, paths and streams, and enjoy stunning views across the Evenlode Valley. After some free time to explore, we make our way to the hotel for our two night stay.
WEDNESDAY Following breakfast, we meet our Oxford guide who will take us on a guided walking tour, including admission into one of the colleges. After the tour we have free time in the city, to explore and soak up the fine architecture, picturesque cobbled streets and hidden corners. Perhaps visit the Museum of Natural History, and the Pitt Rivers Museum, a dimly lit wonderland packed to the ceilings with a wonderful array of objects (admission to both is free).
THURSDAY Following our final breakfast, we make our way to Bletchley Park, where, apart from the famous Enigma Machine, there’s so much more to explore during a visit to this once top secret, atmospheric site. Explore the iconic code-breaking huts, discover a wartime mini cinema, and an outstanding Churchill collection. Then there’s the ornate Victorian mansion that was headquarters to intelligence staff during the war. We depart mid-afternoon for our homeward journey.
