TUESDAY We travel south, with suitable stops en route, arriving in Torquay with time to settle in before dinner.
WEDNESDAY Our first destination of the day is Buckfast Abbey, an inspirational space home to a community of Benedictine Monks. We then continue to Totnes. After some time in this captivating market town, we return to the hotel.
THURSDAY We visit Exeter today, a compact city, and one of the most attractive and historically interesting in England. It’s just a 4 minute walk between the magnificent cathedral and the award winning Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Art Gallery, where admission is free. Perhaps visit the beautiful quayside, or enjoy the stylish shops set in architectural splendour. We return mid afternoon making a stop at the uniquely fascinating House of Marbles, where you can watch craftsmen glassblowing, and peruse the pottery, games and glass museums.
FRIDAY We commence the day with a visit to Kents Cavern, one of Britain's best showcaves. As you take a guided walk through the extensive labyrinth of caverns, you'll be surrounded by 400 million year old rocks and spectacular stalagmites and stalactites. (N.B. Kents Cavern is an easy cave to visit, but please be aware that there are some narrow passages, low ceiling heights, slopes and steps and some visitors may require assistance. Mobility scooters & wheelchairs cannot access the caves, and sensible footwear is required). The rest of the day is yours at leisure in Torquay.
SATURDAY We commence our homeward journey, making suitable stops en route.
