Two nights dinner, bed & breakfast
Set in the Wiltshire countryside, and recently refurbished to a high standard, this hotel is ideally placed for a visit to this beautiful region. Facilities include open plan restaurant and kitchen; split level bar/lounge; air conditioning; complimentary toiletries; and WiFi.
FRIDAY We depart Lincolnshire and make our way to Baddesley Clinton. The magic of this National Trust property comes from its secluded, timeless setting, deep in its own parkland. As well as the manor house there are gardens, including medieval fish pools, a lakeside walk, walled garden and wild flower meadow. Time to enjoy the house and explore the gardens, before continuing onward to the hotel for our two night stay.
SATURDAY This morning we transfer to Avebury, part of the Stonehenge and Avebury World Heritage Site. See the world’s largest prehistoric stone circle partially encompass the pretty village, and explore the garden of Avebury Manor, which is arranged as a series of 'rooms', each with a different name and individual character. Take your time to explore and discover or simply take a seat and enjoy the sights and scents around you. (Avebury Manor entry not included) We then continue to Chippenham, a pretty market town with architectural gems and modern shopping opportunities alike.
SUNDAY We depart the hotel and journey to Waddesdon Manor, a 16th century French Renaissance style chateau, built by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild in the 1870s, and now housing a superb collection of fine art and furniture. The flamboyant gardens are a riot of colour, with ornate fountains and statues. We depart mid-afternoon for the journey home.
