MONDAY On our outward journey we visit the picturesque, bustling town of Skipton, gateway to the Yorkshire Dales. From here we continue to the hotel.
TUESDAY This morning we venture into the heart of the Yorkshire Dales to visit the Wensleydale Creamery where we include a cheese making demonstration. This is a fascinating place full of history, heritage and…cheese! We then have some time to explore the pretty market town of Hawes - look out for “The Chippie” (opening hours permitting), selling deep fried Wensleydale!
WEDNESDAY A day of Lake District exploration. We journey to Bowness-on-Windermere, where we enjoy a circular cruise offering fantastic views of the many islands, Lakeland mountains, wooded shorelines and bays. We then enjoy some time at leisure in Bowness before continuing to Sizergh, a medieval house with over 750 years of history. Inside, admire the impressive wood panelling, and the Inlaid Chamber, showcasing one of the finest examples of Elizabethan craftsmanship. The house is surrounded by stunning gardens, including the limestone rock garden, where colours change with the seasons.
THURSDAY We enjoy a day at leisure today. Perhaps visit the Eric Morecambe statue, which looks out across the promenade, and The Tern Project, a series of public art installations inspired by the birdlife of Morecambe Bay.
FRIDAY We depart the hotel and travel to Harrogate. Take a stroll through Valley Gardens, or take a walk down Montpellier Hill, experiencing the cosmopolitan atmosphere of the area. We commence our homeward journey mid afternoon.
