MONDAY On our outward journey we visit Cambridge, where the city's ancient centre is beautifully preserved with its medieval streets, college courts, gardens & bridges. From here we continue to the hotel for our four night stay.
TUESDAY This morning we visit Bateman’s, Rudyard Kipling’s personal paradise. Surrounded by the wooded landscape of the Sussex Weald, this 17th century house, and pretty secluded gardens provide a tranquil sanctuary. In the afternoon, we continue to Great Dixter House and Gardens, one of the most famous and provocative gardens of the 20th century and home to the late Christopher Lloyd, a much loved eccentric plantsman and writer.
WEDNESDAY A morning excursion to Great Comp Garden, one of the finest gardens to visit in Kent. This quirky garden showcases seven acres of beautiful and rare plants, an Italian Garden, romantic ruins and enchanting woodland. Onwards for an afternoon at leisure in Rochester, where centuries of history and heritage are just awaiting discovery in the place that was the childhood home of novelist Charles Dickens.
THURSDAY This morning we visit Tenterden, “Jewel of the Weald”, and one of the most charming towns in the South East with its unique mix of fascinating history and heritage, where Georgian buildings share the streets with tall Victorian houses and tiny cottages. On in the afternoon to visit Sissinghurst Castle Garden. Sitting within the ruin of a great Elizabethan house. Explore the garden
‘rooms’ and rich herbaceous borders, and also the wider estate, which includes a vegetable garden and lakes.
FRIDAY We depart the hotel and travel to visit Audley End House & Gardens. Immerse yourself in the history of this grand Jacobean mansion house as you explore the stables, gardens and grounds. We commence our homeward journey in the afternoon.
