Two nights dinner bed & breakfast
A modern hotel, opened in 2019. The quality of the decor and fixtures and fittings is of a very high standard, and it is ideally situated for our itinerary. Facilities include Hi! Pizza Restaurant; Sports Bar & Cafe; and free WiFi. The hotel has a lift.
THURSDAY Outward journey to Hughenden, home of the Victorian Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli. Set in an unspoiled Chiltern valley with its views of ancient woods and rolling hills, the house is full of the fascinating personal memorabilia of the charismatic and colourful statesman. You will have time to explore the manor, including the basement exhibition, 1940’s living room and ice-house bunker, as well as the lovely grounds. From here we continue to the hotel for our two night stay.
FRIDAY Following breakfast, we make the short transfer to Kew. There is much to discover here, including The Hive, a striking installation recreating life inside a beehive, and the Treetop Walkway offering magical views of the gardens. Further botanical delights await you in the tropical Palm House and Temperate House. Allow time to also explore Kew Palace, which illustrates the life of George III and his family.
SATURDAY We depart the hotel and journey to Wrest Park, a magnificent house from the 1830s, set in an outstanding restored garden landscape originating in the 17th century. The house itself is remarkable, a near unique example of 19th century English architecture following the style of a French chateau. The grounds are a glorious amalgam of three centuries of English garden design. From here we continue our homeward journey.
